The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science activates since 1946, when the Moldova State University was founded.  The famous scientific schools of Algebra, Differential Equations, Geometry, Mathematical Analysis where born here. More than 30 habilitated doctors, activating today in different countries and fields, especially in education and science, graduated the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. The faculty now counts about 600 students and 80 qualified teachers including 8 habilitated doctors, 48 ​​doctors in science. The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science has 10 laboratories for seminars and practical works with about 170 computers. Within the faculty, the MICROSOFT.NET laboratory, which provides students with a series of books and licensed software for the study process, the “Center for Education and Research in Mathematics and Computer Science” and “Wolfram Moldova”, which organizes modern courses in mathematics and computer science activate. The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science collaborates fruitfully with some IT companies, including ALLIED TESTING, CEDACRI INTERNATIONAL, ENDAVA, which provide students with practical training in specialized IT laboratories. Thanks to such collaborations, the graduates of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science are currently registering one of the highest rates of employment in prestigious institutions in the country and abroad. The Faculty coordinates the activity of the “Support Center for Students with Visually Impaired “.

The mission of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science is to promote educational and research programs according to international standards in the fields of Mathematics and Information Technologies, correlated with the requirements of the labor market in the Republic of Moldova.
